On the day of the regaining of Lithuania’s independence, in the second semi-final match, the KTU team found out that they are going to fight for the LSKL gold! Although they lost by one point to KK – 73:74, the total score of the semi-final series – 168:158 – gave KTU the opportunity to compete in the LSKL finals.
“We worked patiently throughout the season. Although we were unlucky at the beginning of the LSKL season, finishing fourth in the regular season, we proved our quality in the playoffs. I am proud of the men. We are already guaranteed LSKL silver medals and we still have a chance to fight for the gold”, – coach L. Šimkus noted lssa.lt.
KTU team will play in the final after a seven-year break, and there they will be facing multiple Lithuanian champions VDU basketball players. They have lost only once to LSU this season. Which Kaunas team will win the LSKL gold will be announced on 29 April in Klaipėda, at the Švyturys Arena. The Grand Final will start at 19.30.
