On September 14, the annual event “Come and Conquer” took place, dedicated to honoring the memory of Professor Kazimieras Baršauskas, the long-time rector of KTU. The event attracted a large number of KTU students, staff, and guests. Despite the bad weather the day before, the event day had perfect weather, and all participants arrived in good spirits, ready to spend an active Saturday and create a great atmosphere.
In his opening speech, Linas Obcarskas, head of the KTU Sports and Wellness Center, emphasized how happy he was to see the event being organized for the 23rd time. He highlighted that new and different routes are offered to participants every year and noted that such events not only strengthen the sense of community but also promote a healthy lifestyle and physical activity.
We are delighted that the youngest participants successfully completed the 100 m children’s track, which brought a lot of joy and excitement. Next was the 1.6 km obstacle course, where participants demonstrated endurance and creativity. The fastest KTU representative in this distance was Mykolas Juknius.
In the longest distance, which stretched through the Ąžuolynas park, runners and walkers chose the 6.2 km track with two stair climbs. The fastest woman from KTU was Domira Sabaliauskienė, while the first man to cross the finish line was Simonas Riauka. In the mixed team category, the KTU team won. Among the walkers from the KTU community, the first woman was Rasa Šmidaitė, and the first man was Mantas Landauskas. The largest team – KTU MGMF (Mantas Landauskas, Kęstutis Lukšys, Tatjana Sidekerskienė, Rasa Šmidaitė) – was awarded for their active participation.
We would like to thank all the participants for their active involvement and great mood. Your energy and determination were inspiring. We also thank the sponsors, volunteers, staff, and organizers for their excellent implementation of the event and their support.
We look forward to seeing everyone with their families, friends, colleagues, and more next year!
