125 athletes from KTU will participate in the XXXIX SELL Student Games

On 11 April 1923, the Finland, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania Student Unions concluded a cooperation programme in Tartu (Estonia). In the autumn of the same year, the first Baltic Student Olympic Games were held in Tartu. Later on, the Games were called the SELL Games (an abbreviation for the four Baltic countries – Finland, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania). The 2023 SELL Games in Tartu, Estonia, marked the 100th anniversary of the Games.

At the XXXIX SELL Student Games, which will take place from 17-19 May, Kaunas University of Technology athletes are ready to showcase their talents and represent the university in various sports. This year KTU will send 125 athletes representing 14 different sports.

Our university delegation includes the following sports teams: athletics with 21 athletes, 12 players in 5×5 basketball and 4 players in 3×3 basketball. 19 athletes will participate in judo. Football and powerlifting will have 14 and 15 representatives. In addition, 8 athletes will represent beach volleyball, 7 in badminton, 5 in orientation sports, 8 in sport climbing and 6 in chess. 2 in table tennis and 4 in swimming are ready to defend the colours of the University and Lithuania.

17-18 May: Track and Field events will take place at Darius and Girėnas Stadium, Table Tennis at the KTU Hangar Sports Hall, Badminton at the VDU President Valdas Adamkus Sports Complex, Chess at the KTU Faculty of Building and Architecture, Orienteering in Kaunas – sprint event and Ignalina district – middle distance, Basketball 3×3 and beach volleyball at the VDU President Valdas Adamkus Sports Complex, Judo – KTU Faculty of Chemical Technology sports hall

18 May – Powerlifting will take place at the LSU A. Stanislovaitis Indoor Athletics Arena. Swimming – in the Zalgiris Arena swimming pool and sport climbing will be held at the Boulder House Climbing Centre. Volleyball matches will take place on all three days. The women’s group will compete in the LSU gym and the men’s group in the Zalgiris Basketball Academy, with the final taking place in the VDU Sports Centre gym. The 5×5 basketball teams will also play from Friday to Sunday at the Zalgiris Basketball Academy, the KTU Faculty of Chemistry gym and the VDU President Valdas Adamkus Sports Complex.
